It's Taco Tuesday! Honestly what more is there to say? Did you know that Americans eat over 4.5 Billion tacos each year? 4.5 freaking billion tacos! Now I haven't been able to find the source of that data other than at nationaltacoday.com so take it how you will. I mean how do they even figure that out anyway? Either way, that is a crazy amount of tacos, but can you blame us Americans? These food delivery systems are amazing. You can fill them with beef, pork, steak, fish, and even breakfast. You can go completely vegetarian or dare I say it, vegan. They appeal to the masses, and I honestly don't know if I've ever met a person who doesn't like a taco.
I remember back in the day taco night was one of my favorite meals as a kid. Back then, before I discovered the potential of tacos, my mom would cook up the taco kit and then we would load them up with lettuce, cheese, salsa, and sour cream. It was a music to my ears to hear it was taco night. It also seemed like the only place you could get a taco outside of Taco Bell was a Mexican restaurant. Now there are taco places everywhere, which is a great problem to have. And the taco possibilities are seemingly endless. You can get them with lamb, pork belly, shrimp, pickled watermelon rind, etc. Oh, what a time to be alive. Plus tacos are just a really great social food. They are perfect for casual nights with friends either at home or out somewhere. They're super easy to make and people can load them up with whatever they feel like. So maybe the next time you don't know what to make for a crowd, try the almighty taco. And mark your calendars because October 4th is TACO DAY!
P.S. I don't really have anything for a certain group of people this post. I mean it's a taco. If you don't like tacos are you really even human?
