What's the dill with pickling lately? Pickling has been around for a long time. Some believe 2400 BC and some 2030 BC. Either way, that was a long long time ago. But, now It seems it's become more mainstream and people are pickling everything. According to an article in Forbes, they are saying frozen pickle juice may be the next big food trend. Really people, frozen pickle juice? I mean come on, where does it end with the pickles? I used to hate pickles. Didn't like them by themselves. Didn't like them on my burger. Didn't like pickle relish on my hotdog. Now, to keep this in context I was a plain kid. I ate my hamburgers with only cheese. I wasn't one of those kids who bought a 50 cent pickle at a ball game. I always thought that was weird. Anyway, now I enjoy pickles and what they bring to the table. I just think it's kinda funny we are seeing this pickling trend. Maybe I'm wrong and it's been happening for a while and I've just now noticed it. I just think it's kinda funny and worth posting about. I mean I'm seeing pickled watermelon rind, pickled red grapes, kool-aid dill pickles, pickled nectarines, and it just gets weirder. But hey, to each his own and if you want to be creative and other people like it, then go for it. Who am I to stop the weird creativeness in people? Just know some of us find your pickling a little funny.
P.S. Portlandia has a great sketch about pickles you can check out here.
